Garage sales are going on - donation pick ups are happening and the Spring Cleaning is starting!! Always good to declutter your home and make it more functional and organized.. but what about Spring Cleaning YOUR LIFE!? I once read somewhere a cluttered home equals a cluttered mind. So going through items in your home environment can really help your life, overall.
The experts have some ideas:
Create a home that reflects who you are - now. Surround yourself with items, pictures, memories, that make you happy and feel good. Your house doesn’t have to be generic. Make it YOU.
Get a neutral set of eyes to look at your home and closet. A family member or friend may convince you NOT to give something up because of sentimental value.. you wore that dress when we did this or you bought that in Cancun on our vacation, etc.. but a fresh perspective might just be what you need to truly scale back on items that aren’t necessary.
Go room by room - but start in the bathroom. Bathrooms are easy to clean and get rid of things because.. well are you really attached to your old makeup and cleaning supplies? Once you get in the rhythm of putting things in the to-go pile, it becomes more of a habit.
Take pictures of sentimental items that you want to “have” but don’t actually need them in your home.
And then there’s the 20/20 rule: We only use about 20 percent of our wardrobe, so if you haven’t worn or used something in six months, you’re probably not going to use it.
HAPPY SPRING CLEANING!
