Falling Iguanas Aside.....

Falling iguanas FILE - In this Dec. 7, 2016, file photo, a green iguana checks out the flowers on a Bougainvillea plant in Hollywood, Fla. A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission news release says people should exterminate the large green lizards on their properties as well as on 22 public lands areas across South Florida. Iguanas aren't dangerous or aggressive, but they damage seawalls, sidewalks, landscape foliage and can dig lengthy tunnels. (AP Photo/Wilfredo Lee, File) (Wilfredo Lee/AP)

Yes, it’s going to be beyond cold enough to stun iguanas right out the trees in part of Florida. But it’s also going to be cold enough to stun sea life, like turtles. Please watch for cold-stunned sea life and report to FWC, Florida Aquarium, and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

Our cold weather advisory tonight will have “feels like” in the 30’s and even cooler away from Tampa Bay. Citrus and Hernando have a freeze warning. Cold weather shelters will be opening.

At the TECO Manatee Viewing Center they do a lot of rehab on those turtles, and you can chart with them about. The Center is now open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (trails close at 4 p.m.) from November 1 through April 15. It’s closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and early on Christmas Eve, so plan accordingly. For more info, call 813-228-4289.

Florida’s new sales tax holiday covers hunting, fishing, and camping gear and runs through the end of the year. Hurry up, time is running out!
