How do you brew... your coffee? Chances are you’re doing it wrong!

Check out some tips for a better wake-up cup

If you’re like me and trying to master brewing the PERFECT cup of coffee at home, apparently there’s more to it than dumping in some grounds, hitting a button and praying for caffeine!

Katherine Peach at CNET says a few little changes can make a big difference, like buying smaller amounts of coffee so the beans stay fresh and using filtered water instead of straight tap water, since chemicals in tap water can mess with the flavor.

And here’s one I definitely didn’t expect: you might actually be washing your coffee maker too much. A good hot-water rinse is often enough, because leftover soap residue can make your morning cup taste a little funky.

But my favorite tip has nothing to do with the coffee itself: stop treating every cup like something you have to chug on the run. Take an extra 10 minutes, sit down, drink it with someone you like and actually enjoy the moment.

I’m still working on perfecting my at-home brew, but if “sit around drinking coffee for an extra 10 minutes” is considered expert advice, I feel like I’m qualified for that! ☕
