Florida DMV Down

A statewide outage at the Florida DMV started shut down Monday, leaving no way to to process driver’s licenses and motor vehicle transactions. As of Monday afternoon, they did not expect the system to be back up today. To get updates on when the system is back to normal check the DMV site.

One of the more dangerous intersections in South Tampa has a construction project getting underway this morning in the Virginia Park neighborhood. The area around Lois Avenue and Bay to Bay Boulevard will have speed tables added to the road to slow motorists down. The construction will take a couple of days to finish.

Drought conditions continue in Pinellas County, and new rules are in place for using reclaimed water. This affects customers living north of Curlew, and you’ll only be allowed to water the lawn one day a week instead of three. For more on the rules please check with the county here.

It’s time to dim the lights at the beach and make sure you fill in any holes you dig on the beach. Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota has the first documented sea turtle nest of the season. Volunteers walk the beaches to search for them each year, and found this one just hours after they began last Saturday. Gas prices are down 6-7 cents over the last week. We can thank the gas supply being restored in South Florida. AAA reports the average gas price across the state is $3.65 a gallon. Check those gas prices every day with the map from AAA.
