On this day in music history (20 years ago today) SHAKIRA had her first #1 hit song in the US with her single Hips Don’t Lie, featuring Wyclef Jean.

What a great song that gets stuck in your head very quickly! That song broke the record for the most-played pop song in a single week on American radio. It played a total of 9,637 times.

The song became a global success, reaching #1 in seventeen countries. Go Shakira!
