It’s the big one. The 2024 Parade of the the Pirates is this weekend, so we can count on a few things. Traffic. Get there early. If you live in the area, either thrown a party and stay home or get out of town for the weekend. Don’t overdo it, and if you need to take a rideshare home, don’t take a chance. And then, there’s the beads. When the celebrations are over, it’s time to clean up. All those beads that could clutter up Bayshore Blvd or end of in the Bay can help you get 50% off your admission to the Florida Aquarium on and adult ticket. Keeping them out the Bay as well is crucial, so here’s the deal. Get a five gallon bucket, fill it up and get the details on how to turn them in here. Those beads are recycled through the MacDonald Training Center, a nonprofit organization that helps adults with disabilities prepare for the workforce through vocational training, employment pathways, residential supports and life-enrichment opportunities. Workers will sanitize and repackage the beads for reuse at future events. Funds raised support the Center’s career and education programs. On the other side of the Bay, the WWE Royal Rumble is at Tropicana Field Saturday night (and the rumors are with the return of The Rock). The 37th Annual Event is scheduled for 8 pm with tickets available here.
If you find yourself craving anything made with kumquats., it’s your weekend at the Dade City Kumquat Festival. I never had on in the life until I paid them a visit for my first slice of pie from this tart fruit. So good! This is the 27th Annual Festival and like everything else this weekend, traffic gets crazy in a hurry. Bring a cooler for plenty of take-home goodies.
The Bucs season may be over, but there’s an opening for a new Captain Fear. If you think you have the right stuff, take a look here for all the details. Definitely a cool gig.
Do you have an event everyone needs to know about? Tell me at Ann.kelly@cmg.com. Include details and pics please and enjoy the weekend!
